We still Living the Effects of Slavery,

You've said it all. Backwards and brainwashed is exactly the mindset of those among us who would deny YOUNG BLACK MEN the right to EDUCATION.

This is shameful indeed. Barbados and Barbadians should NOT accept this.

We should protest against the Polytechnic.

This is ridiculous! Not too long ago the issue was - there are too many young men hanging on the block. Now that we have young men in school, learning a trade so that they can become contributing members of society - we focus on thier hair style. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't. Aren't we side stepping the real issue here? Are Bajans really ready to accept and embrace their Blackness? Are we as Black people now doing the job of those who have oppressed us because of how we look? Have we now turned to penalizing our fellow man for being Black and proud? Do we have to reject our Blackness and forsake ourselves just to get an education? Why do they have to be Rastafarian for them to exercise their right to govern themselvees? How antiquated! This is a prime example of the oldtime, backwards mindset that some Bajans still hold fast to. Let those young men be.
